Here’s what’s happening the week of January 30

Groundhog Day

Thursday, February 2 is "Groundhog Day". If he/she sees its shadow, it's six more weeks of winter or so the story goes. I'm not sure this really works, but it's as good as many weathermen's/women's predictions.

School Funding

We still have yet to hear anything on school funding for next year. All we know is that the state is considering using the surplus funds to hire more police officers. Is this a statement about our society -- cut education and hire more police officers to reduce crime? What about educating our youth so they don't commit crimes?

Professional Development Day

On Monday, February 6 we will conduct our annual ISD wide professional development. If you have yet to sign up for a session(s), please do so. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor.

Board Meeting

Our next Board meeting is Monday, February 6 at 4:00 p.m. in the Essexville Hampton room. Staff is always welcomed to attend.

ESC Room Name Changes

On July 1, 2012, a number of ESC conference room names will change. We are working with Cort Schepeler's Graphics and Printing students to "refresh" the looks of the rooms. Cort's students will be taking pictures of each of our local schools and adding them to our building. Cort and his students will also be visiting our programs to take pictures. I would like to thank Cort and his second year students in advance for their willingness to take on this project.

Reminder

Expense reimbursement requests for the months of October, November and December are due into the Business Office no later than January 31, 2012.
