Here's what's up for the week of March 26, 2007:
1. Congratulations - On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to congratulate all of the students that have competed or are currently competing in a variety of competitions. This is the time of year that our students shine in events like DECA, HOSA, BPA, Skills USA, FFA, and Special Olympics etc.

2. Special Thanks -  I would like to thank all of our Special Education staff who help to make the Special Olympic’s dinner such a tremendous success. It was great to see so many folks lending a helping hand.

3. CareerCenter Fundraiser - Just a reminder that this Thursday, our CareerCenter will have its annual fundraiser, “Taste of Italy.” The cost is only $5.00. What a deal! Contact the Career Center for more information.

4. Spring Break - Our annual spring break begins Monday, April 2nd and goes through Friday, April 6. Our CareerCenter and Special Education programs will be back in session on Monday, April 9.

9. Professional Development (PD) Reminder - This is a reminder that all professional staff are required to enter their professional development hours into Coursewhere by the end of May 2007 for the 2006-07 school year. Your professional development hours are reported to the State through the Registry of Educational Personnel (REP) via Coursewhere in June. If your hours are not entered into Coursewhere, they will not be reported to the State. If you have any questions or are having any problems entering your PD hours into Coursewhere, please contact Erika Rupert at extension 3375.

10. Imagination Library Update - As of March 20, 2007, we have over 4,300 children registered for our Imagination Library program. Great work!

11. Budget Cuts - Our local districts continue to face challenging budget issues and their program cuts often spill over into our programs. Please be assured that we will continue to offer quality programs for our students. We do this because we truly have outstanding employees who continue to put our students and our local districts’ needs above their own.

12. Quotes for Educators - I hear and I forget, I see and I remember. I do and I understand - Chinese proverb. It is no use saying “we are doing our best.” You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary. Winston Churchill.  I’m a slow walker, but I never walk back. Abraham Lincoln.
