Mike's Monday Memo for the Week of 9/10/07

09/10/2007

Here’s what’s up for the week of September 10, 2007:

 1. Congratulations – We had a great start of the school year! I am always so impressed with the job that you all do. This is a wonderful place to work. Keep up the good work.

 2. New Beginning – Our new year starts with a new group of kids and often new staff. This time of year provides all of us an opportunity for a new beginning. Very few professionals have the opportunity to have this fresh new start. I challenge each to have a great new year.

3.  Adult Education Classes, High School Diploma and GED – If you are aware of someone that is interested in taking an Adult Education class, High School Diploma or GED class, please have them call our Adult Education Office at 667-3275.

 4. Dolly wood Foundation/ Imagination Library Update – I would like to thank numerous staff members who have helped make our Imagination Library such a tremendous success. To date, we have over 4,300 children in our two counties receiving a book each month. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Jill Bialek at extension 3223.

 5. Career Center Golf Outing – It’s that time of year again! The 5th Annual Career Center Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, September 29. All the donations will be used to assist in funding our student activities at the Career Center. Grab three friends and sign up your team. You will have a great time and our students will benefit from your generosity. I’ve attached a flyer for your review. The flyer states that the shotgun time to start is 11:00 a.m., this is incorrect. The time should be 8:00 a.m.

 6. From the desk of Craig Loree - Payroll Inquiry (Online Paycheck Stubs) How does it work? – I’m sure that you’ve heard about the upcoming replacement of the paper paycheck stub with a new online paperless version. If you’re not quite sure how that will work, or you’re wondering how to access your paperless paycheck stub online, then I’ve got a deal for you! There will be two informative sessions held to explain the whole process. In fact, all attendees will receive free step-by-step instructions on how to access their own paycheck stubs. The sessions will be held on Tuesday, September 25 th at 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Academy Room at the Educational Service Center.

Erika Rupert will be placing two links on the BAISD website for employees to access their payroll check stubs. One will be under Quick Links and one will be under District Support, Resources.

 7. Board Meeting – The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 17, 2007. Staff is always welcome to attend.
