Here’s what’s up for the week of December 3, 2007:
 
  1. Christmas Holiday - The Christmas holiday is fast approaching. We will be closed on December 24th and 25th, and December 31st and January 1, 2008. The Educational Service Center will be open on December 26th, 27th, and 28. All other programs will be back in full swing on January 2, 2008.
 
  1. Three-Year Asbestos Building Reinspection – A three-year asbestos reinspection has been completed by ARM Consultants. If employees would like to review this inspection document, please contact Dave Bourdon in the Building and Grounds Department at extension 3270.
 
  1. Section 125 Reminder - Again this year, the IRS Code allows employees to deduct funds from their pay for medical reimbursement. The deadline to sign up for this Section 125 deduction during the 2008 calendar year was this past Friday, November 30. If you have any questions, contact Connie Frank at extension 3256 in the Business Office for further information.
 
  1. Saginaw Spirit Tickets – Once again, we are selling Saginaw Spirit hockey game tickets for the game on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 7:11 p.m. for a rate of $7.50 per ticket! Ticket order deadline is Friday, February 21. Please view the attachment for more information. Contact Katie Legner at extension 3200 for your ticket order. Order form
 
  1. Career Center Community Service Projects - Our Career Center students are participating in a number of Community projects. The following are samples of a few:
·        The River of Lights -This is an ongoing community service project. The program areas that are involved in this project are Auto Body, Electronics, Welding, Drafting, and MTP. You can once again enjoy the display during this holiday season at the Veteran’s Memorial Park.
 
·        Project Blue Light - Our Law Enforcement students and staff will celebrate Project Blue Light at the First Presbyterian Church at 805 Center Avenue in Bay City on December 12th at 7:00 p.m. Project Blue Light is a way to remember the law enforcement officers who have made the supreme sacrifice, and those officers still working day in and day out to help keep our streets and homes safe.
 
  1. Wreaths and Poinsettias - Our Career Center Agriscience Program is selling wreaths, poinsettias, and other Christmas decorations for the holiday season. If you are interested in ordering your holiday decorations, please contact the Agriscience Program at extension 3442.
 
  1. Candle Sales – The LLC-Arenac Campus has candles for sale. They are selling 4-pack votives for $7.50 and jar candles for $8.00 in the following scents: pine needles, apple jack & peel, snicker doodle, and ocean mist. 10% of their sales by December 7th will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for kids. After that, the profit will take the LLC-Arenac students on an adventurous field trip in May.

  1. Special Education Open House - Craft items from the students will be on sale on December 6th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Living and Learning Center ? Bay Campus. Lunch is also available at a very reasonable cost. So stop by and shop!
 
  1. Good News - One of our BAISD Special needs students and his family has been chosen to be the recipient of the Johnny Burke WHNN Christmas Wish. See attachment.
 
10.    Board Meeting - Our next Board meeting is tonight at 4:00 p.m. in the Essexville-Hampton Room. Staff is always welcome.
