Mike's Monday Memo

1. SVSU Credit – During the past year, Saginaw Valley State University and Bay-Arenac ISD have worked together to prepare quality teachers.  As a result, SVSU has awarded BAISD credits for our staff to utilize for their personal continuing education.  We currently have 3.25 credits.
   
   We would like to offer staff members the opportunity to use up to one credit per employee to help pay for a course that they may be taking at SVSU.  This is a first-come, first-served basis and the request must be submitted in writing to David Sevener.  After we receive the written requests, a form will be given to the individuals who apply. The credit awarded must be used within three years. Deadline to submit your request is Friday, September 23, 2005.
   
   
2. 43rd Grand Re-opening – Just a reminder that our Grand Re-opening is this Thursday, September 22. This should be a wonderful opportunity to show our community all the great things we do.
   
   
3. Customer Satisfaction Survey – When you receive the customer satisfaction survey via email from Jim Arnold on Friday, September 16, 2005, please take a moment to complete it. This information is beneficial to our district and will help me do my job. Thank you.
   
   
4. 2005 Mileage Rate Change – Effective September 1, 2005, the mileage reimbursement rate will be 48.5 cents per mile. This is for all business miles driven between September 1 and December 31, 2005. This is an increase of 8 cents from the 40.5 cent rate in effect for the first eight months of 2005. Claims for reimbursement of mileage for September 1, 2005 or after should be requested on a separate form. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Rupprecht at ext. 3253.
   
   
5. Board Meeting – The next Board of Education meeting is this afternoon, here at the Educational Service Center and staff is always welcome.
   
   
6. First Day of Fall – For all of you folks that love the fall season, the first day is Thursday, Sept 22, 2005.
   
   
7. For the Shoppers in the Group – You only have 96 shopping days until   Christmas, so get out there and spend.
