Mike's Monday Memo

09/27/2005

Here’s what’s up for the week of September 26, 2005:

  1. 43rd Grand Re-Opening – I would like to thank each and every one of our staff that helped to make this event possible.  I heard many positive comments.  This event took a great deal of time and effort from the CD that Bob Wenzlick and Kevin Bitzer put together for special education, to the celebrations and history boards at the Career Center, Educational Service Center, and both the LLC buildings.  But best of all, it was a credit to our staff and the hard work you do each and every day.  This truly was a CELEBRATION.

  2. United WayThe annual United Way Campaign kick-off for Bay-Arenac ISD will be October 3 through October 14.  You will receive a packet of information soon.  I would ask that if you have given in the past that you continue and if you have not contributed in the past that you consider doing so. Our Bay Area United Way helps so many people in our county.  If you have any questions, you can contact Dave Sevener at 667-3201.

  3. Imagination Library Update – To date, we have received over 3,500 registrations for our program. This is over 3,500 children in Bay and Arenac counties reading a book each month, all before the age of five.  Thanks to all who have helped make this program possible.

  4. Classroom/Program Visits – Again this year, I welcome the opportunity to lend a helping hand. If you have a special event or just want me to stop by, please don’t hesitate to call me. I‘ll make every effort to attend.

  5. Questions and Answers – Do you have a question or a concern or you just aren’t sure you understand something you might have heard?  I would suggest that you first talk to your supervisor. If you still have a question, you are always welcome to call or e-mail me. I would be happy to discuss your concerns. Together it works best.

  6. Annual FLU Shot – Attached is the flu shot schedule for 2005.  If you are interested, please RSVP to the appropriate person for your building.

  7. District Credit Cards – In the next week or so, Bruce Curtiss will be attending many staff meetings to explain a new district credit card practice. There will be more information to come.

  8. Car Wash Fundraiser – The Auto Mechanics and Auto Body Repair programs at the Career Center will be hosting a car wash fundraiser to benefit student clubs. The event will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 8:20 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. The rain date is Wednesday, September 28. The students do an excellent job while earning funds for their competitions.

  9. Birthday Wishes – 9/26 Linda Niedzwiecki; 9/28 Christine Reinhart; 9/29 Stephanie Gutierrez. Happy Birthday!

  10. Blooming Chef’s Restaurant – The Blooming Chef’s Restaurant will begin operating on Tuesday, October 4, 2005.  A menu will be in next week’s Pink Sheet.

Words to live by this week:
