Mike's Monday Memo

12/12/2005

Here’s what’s up for the week of December 12, 2005:

  1. Santa Visit – The word on the street is that Santa Claus will be visiting classrooms and our buildings this week. I think the “big guy” will be in and out of our programs on December 19, 20, and 21.

  2. Last Paycheck for 2005 – The last paycheck for 2005 will be Friday, December 30, 2005.  We will distribute the last check of the calendar year on December 29, 2005. The check will also be dated for the 29th as well.  Any check not picked up will be mailed.

  3. Office Closing Reminder – The Educational Service Center will be closed on the following dates: December 23, 26, December 30, 2005, and January 2, 2006.

  4. Adult Education Class – If you are interested in taking one of our many winter Adult Education classes, I would encourage you to contact the Adult Education Office for class times and schedules for the winter semester. Please call 667-3275 for more information.

  5. Imagination Library – We have enrolled over 3,800 children into the program. Our goal is that all the children in both Bay and Arenac Counties, who are between the ages of zero and five, will all join our program.  Can you imagine 7,300 children having their own books delivered each month to their home?  How powerful is that!  If you are interested in getting involved in the program or if you are interested in making a contribution you can contact Jill Bialek at 667-3223.

  6. Next Board Meeting – Just a reminder that our next regular Board meeting will be Monday, December 19, 2005. You are all invited to attend.

  7. Birthday Wishes – 12/12 Jeffery Pruder and Tim Rivard; 12/14 Diane Kiebel; 12/16 Kathleen Dardas and Lori Welch; 12/18 Debbie Scaggs. Happy Birthday everyone!

Words to live by this week:

From the beginning of his education, the child should experience the joy of discovery.
