Mike's Monday Memo

Here’s what’s up for the week of December 19, 2005:

1. Happy Holidays - On behalf of the Board of Education, we would like to wish each of you and your families a wonderful holiday season.  This is the time of year that we can reflect on the wonderful events of years past and look forward to what the future might hold. Have a safe and joyful holiday.
   
   
2. Santa Visit – The word on the street is that Santa Claus will be visiting classrooms and buildings this week. I think the “big guy” will be in and out of our programs on December 19, 20, and 21.
   
   
3. Last Paycheck for 2005 – The last paycheck for 2005 will be Friday, December 30, 2005.  We will distribute the last check of the calendar year on December 29, 2005. The check will also be dated for the 29th as well.  Any check not picked up will be mailed.
   
   
4. Office Closing Reminder – The Educational Service Center will be closed on the following dates: December 23, 26, December 30, and January 2, 2006.
   
   
5. Revised Inclement Weather Procedures – Attached is a REVISED copy of the Inclement Weather Procedures. The Career Center had several changes to their procedures and we want to make sure everyone is up-to-date on how they will handle school closings. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Thank you.
   
   
6. School Closings – Another way to view the surrounding school closings is via the Internet. Go to our homepage, www.baisd.net. At the bottom left side of the page you’ll see “School Closings.” Click on that link and it will take you to the WNEM TV5 page to view the closings.
   
   
7. Adult Education – The Adult Education Office is open from 10:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Adult Education department will be starting their winter semester registration on Wednesday, January 4, 2006. Registration times are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 pm. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Friday. BAISD Staff may register for ½ price starting the week of January 16, 2006. Any questions on classes please call our office at (989) 667-3275.
   
   
8. Mike’s Monday Memo – There will not be another memo sent out until Tuesday, January 3, 2006 due to the Christmas and New Year’s holiday.
   
   
9. Next Board Meeting – Just a reminder that our next regular Board Meeting will be tonight, December 19, 2005. You are all invited to attend. We are asking the Board for approval to cancel the January 2^nd Board Meeting.
