Mike's Monday Memo 03/13/2006 Mike’s Monday Memo
Here’s what’s up for the week of March 13, 2006:
- Spring Break - Just a reminder that Spring Break will be the week of March 25 through April 2, 2006. Warm weather is just around the corner.
- St. Patrick’s Day - Just a little reminder this Friday is the “Luck of the Irish day.” Don’t forget to wear green!
- St. Patrick’s Day Parade - This Sunday is the annual Bay City Parade. My daughter is the Chesaning Showboat Queen and her royal father will be driving the float. It should be a fun day.
- March 15 - The “Eye’s of March” this is the day the Caesar, Emperor of Rome, was killed. Bet you all new that didn’t you!
- Sad News – I’m sorry to inform you that Marty Doring’s mother passed away yesterday, March 12. Please keep Marty and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
- Imagination Library Update - To date, we have over 3,950 children signed up for our books. In addition, last week we became aware that Dow Chemical Company would make a donation of $ 50,000.00 to our program. Great job to all that have worked on this project.
- Career Center Student Competitions - Hat’s off and congratulations to all of our Career Center students who are participating in regional and state competitions. We are so proud of you!
- Speaking of being proud - Our students at the LLC-Arenac Campus are making candles as a fundraiser project. The proceeds from their fundraiser are going to be used for a class trip to our state capital in Lansing. The candles are $8.00 a piece and come in four different fragrances: citrus basil, clothesline fresh, lily of the valley, and orange cupcake. These are soy candles which produce less soot and have a 60 hour burn time. You can order them by contacting Bonnie Ott at the ESC Building or Gloria Anderson at 989-846-9510. The order deadline is March 20th and the projected delivery will be before Easter.
- Retirement - We would like to wish Lori Peterson the very best in her upcoming retirement. Lori has worked at BAISD for 22 years plus. Her last day is Friday, March 17, 2006. Lori has brought so many smiles to our students’ faces. We will miss you!
- Education Expo - The Bay Area Chamber will be sponsoring the first educational expo at the SVSU Rider Center this Saturday, March 18. If you have a child that is middle/high school age, this is a must see event. Parents will be able to talk to College, Career, and Skill Trade representatives. The program runs from Noon to 6:00 pm.
- Birthday Wishes – 3/13 Brenda Beery-Kline; 3/14 Eric Stasser; 3/15 Theresa Dauer, Amy Schwab; 3/17 Sara Nesbitt, Mark Szejbach. Happy Birthday to all of you!
Words to live by this week:
