Mike's Monday Memo

04/17/2006

Here’s what’s up for the week of April 17, 2006:

  1. Welcome Back - I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend.

  2. Enjoy the Weather – I hope everyone had the opportunity to get outside this weekend. Maybe, just maybe, spring has arrived!

  3. Board Meeting Budget Presentation – Over the next month, Bruce Curtiss and I will be presenting our 2006-2007 ISD budget to our local school districts.  Each of our LEAs must see our budget before our Board can approve it.

  4. Facts about BAISD - When the Educational Service Center opened in 1971, we offered the following services:  Special Education, Instructional Media, Occupational Education, In-service Training, Data Processing, Child Accounting, Attendance Office, Hot Lunch Records, Special Projects Assistance, Transportation Audits, Teacher Certification Records, and Substitute Services.  A lot has changed over 35 years.

  5. ESC Printing Department Paper Sale Please view the attachment regarding this inventory sale.

  6. T.L. Handy Alumni – Please view the T.L. Handy Alumni Open House Flyer I have attached.

  7. Administrative Professional’s Day – Just as a reminder that Wednesday, April 26th, is Administrative Professional’s Day. Please take just a few minutes to thank these hard working individuals.  Our office professionals are number one in my book.

  8. Regular Board Meeting – This evening, our Board of Education will conduct their regular monthly meeting.  Our next meeting will be May 1, 2006, here at the Educational Service Center.

  9. Special Recognitions - I would like to inform our staff that two of our staff members have been given special recognitions. Linda Niedzwiecki has been named Michigan Occupational Special Populations Support Staff Member of the Year.  In addition, Mike Rivard was presented the SkillsUSA Honorary Award for his many years of service to SkillsUSA.  Congratulations to both of these very deserving individuals!

Words to live by this week:

  • Truths children have learned:
  • No matter how hard you try, you can’t baptize a cat.
  • When your mom is mad at your dad, don’t let her brush your hair.
  • You can’t trust dogs to watch your food.
  • You can’t hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
  • Puppies still have bad breath even after eating a Tic-Tac.
