05/22/2006

Here’s what’s up for the week of May 22, 2006:

  1. Relay for Life – Mark your calendars to attend a great time in the park for a great cause. Relay for Life 2006 is August 12-13 beginning at 10:00 am at the River walk in Bay City. The Survivor Ceremony begins at 6:00 pm, and the Luminaria Ceremony begins at 9:00 pm. For more information, contact Debbie Pretzer at pretzerd@baisd.net.

  2. Memorial Day - Just as a reminder, next Monday, May 29th, the district will be closed in recognition of the national holiday. This is our opportunity to remember the men and women who served or are currently serving our country in the armed forces. On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to wish all of our staff a safe and restful holiday weekend.

  3. End of the 2005-2006 school year - As we approach the end of the regular school year, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to our staff for their hard work and their tremendous work ethic. BAISD is a great place to work and I continue to be excited to see first-hand all the hard work our staff does in making the lives of our students just a little bit better. For this, I thank you. I have the best job in the state because of the staff that works here.

  4. Spring Survey 2006 - The Strategy 7 Communication's Committee would like to respond to some of your comments about the "Spring Survey" that was completed in March. The committee wants you to know that we really do review the comments and try to make improvements in the area of communication. If you have any additional comments, I would like to hear them. Please call me at ext. 3273. Please review the memo that is attached in this e-mail for responses to the survey.

  5. No Mike’s Memo Next Week - Due to the holiday on Monday, May 29, 2006, we won’t have a memo next week. The next and final issue of the 2005-2006 school year will be June 5, 2006. I hope that you have found this memo to be informative and helpful in your daily activities.

  6. Special Thanks - I would like to congratulate all our staff. Many of you have been involved in year-end celebrations and student recognition events.  Many of the students that we/you recognize may not have had this type of recognition in their home district or in any other part of their formal education. I can’t express to you how pleased I am for the job you are doing to help make our students’ lives happier.
