Mike's Monday Memo for the week of June 5, 2006

06/05/2006
Here’s what’s up for the week of June 5, 2006:
  1. Special Thanks - On behalf of the Bay-Arenac ISD Board of Education, I would like to thank each and every one of our staff members for helping make the 2005-2006 school year such a tremendous success. Each of you contributed in your own special way to make this year one of our very best. By working together we can make a difference.

  2. Summer Hours - Just a reminder that during the summer months our office   will be open during the following times: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday, June 12th through Friday, August 18.  If you need to see someone, it is always best to call ahead as many of our staff will be taking their much deserved vacations during this time as well.

  3. Summer Programs - As many of you are aware, our ISD offers many summer programs for our students from special education extended programming to summer school at our Career Center.  To those staff members that are involved in summer programs, I thank you and wish you a successful program.

  4. Summer Cleaning - This summer, as with every summer, our custodial and maintenance crew will be working on a number of summer projects in preparation of the upcoming school year. Here is a list of a few summer projects that are planned: Painting at the LLC-Bay Campus, LLC-Arenac Campus, Career Center, and the Educational Service Center; and parking lot expansion at ESC. As the regular school year draws to a close, summer cleaning is heating up!

  5. August 30, 2005 Opening Day Event - Just a reminder that our annual opening day event has been set for Wednesday, August 30, 2006.  Please mark your calendar. More information will be forthcoming to you the end of July or beginning of August.

  6. Contact the Superintendent - If you have questions during the summer, I can be reached at 667-3273 during regular business hours, Monday-Thursday evening at 239-5217, or Friday-Sunday at 989-845-4676.

  7. Summer Vacation - Finally, I would like to wish each of you a great   summer! Forget about the high gas prices and forget about all the rain. Get out and enjoy the weather. Remember to laugh a lot, spend time with loved ones, read a good book, and take time for yourself.  Summer is the time to “re-charge” your personal batteries!  See you all in August!

  8. Building Trade’s Open House – The staff and students of the 2005-06 Building Trade’s Class would like to invite all staff to an Open House Celebration for their project house on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 3:00 pm. This year’s project house is located in the Crossroads East Subdivision in Monitor Township (right down the road from our center – North Union between Two Mile and Monitor Road). Please join us and see what our students from the Career Center have accomplished!

  9. Adult Education Graduation – The Adult Education Graduation ceremonies are scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 7:00 pm in the Career Center Cafeteria. Office hours on Tuesday will be 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Adult Education officially closes for the summer on June 9, 2006.

Words to live by for the summer!

Truths adults have learned:
  1. Raising teenagers is like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree.
  2. Middle age is when you choose cereal for the fiber, not the toy.
  3. If you can remain calm, you don’t have all the facts.
  4. You’re getting old when you stoop to tie your shoes and wonder what else you can do while you’re down there.
  5. You appreciate the fact that wrinkles don’t hurt.
