Mike's Monday Memo for the week of October 30, 2006

10/30/2006

Here’s what’s up for the week of October 30, 2006:

 1. Did you turn back your clock? –   If you didn’t, you were here too early! Don’t you just hate it when your week starts out like that!

 2. Remember to Vote! –   Election Day is next Tuesday, November 7. This is a reminder to get out and vote! If you think you might be a little late coming back to work, please communicate this with your supervisor. Your vote is important!

 3. Halloween –   Tomorrow is the BIG Day. I hope you are ready and have all the candy you need. Just drive safe and watch out for those little ghosts, goblins, and scary things that say “BOO” in the night.

 4. PINK Sheet –    The Career Center has a weekly announcement sheet and we have been asked to attach it each week to this memo. If you want to know more about the Career Center’s weekly activities, be sure to open the attachment by clicking here.

 5. Career Center’s Cafeteria Gallery –    Stroll through the Career Center’s Cafeteria Gallery to see the latest photographs taken by the Graphics and Printing Communications program. There are some beautiful fall scenes that are truly worth the trip to the Career Center!

 6. “Fall into the Holidays” –    Remember that a Bazaar and Harvest Luncheon will take place this Saturday, November 4th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the BAISD Career Center. There will be area vendors, a white elephant sale, gourmet food items, and more! Proceeds from this event will benefit the Career Center’s student clubs.

 7. Speaking of Attachments –    If you have something that you would like to share with others and it’s in a PDF file just send it over and we will attach it. Please remember, it has to deal with school activities and special related events.

 8. Next Board Meeting –    Just a reminder that next Monday, November 6th will be the next Board of Education work session. Staff is always welcome to attend. Our Board members enjoy seeing your smiling faces.

 9. Say Thanks –    Just as a reminder, as we get all caught up in our busy daily activities we sometimes forget to say thanks to the people around us. These people might be the loved ones we live with or the people we work side by side with. Everyone likes to hear these two small words that mean so much. THANK YOU!

 10. Call a Parent –    I would like to challenge our entire staff to call one of our students’ parents. It doesn’t matter if you are a teacher, a paraprofessional, an office professional, or a supervisor. Pick up the phone and call a parent. Tell that parent what a pleasure it is to have their son or daughter in our programs. We have a lot of great kids in our programs and it’s nice to tell their parents. So, challenge yourself to make that call!

If you feel really up to a challenge make two calls a week! Come on, you can do it. We will even pay for the call!

11.  Birthday Wishes –    Happy Birthday!
       11/2 Jeff Hahn

Words to live by this week:
