Mike's Monday Memo

12/05/2006

Here’s what’s up for the week of December 4, 2006:

  1. Christmas HolidayThe Christmas holiday is fast approaching. We will be closed on December 25 and 26, and January 1 and 2, 2007.  The Educational Service Center will be open on December 27, 28, and 29, 2006. All other programs will be back in full swing on January 3, 2007.

  2. Career Center Community Service Projects – Our Career Center students are participating in a number of community projects. The following are samples of a few of them: The River of Lights - This is an ongoing community service project. The program areas that are involved in this project are Auto Body, Electronics, Welding, Drafting, and MTP.  You can once again enjoy the display during this holiday season at the Veteran’s Memorial Park. Project Blue Light - Our Law Enforcement students and staff will celebrate Project Blue Light at the First Presbyterian Church at 805 Center Avenue in Bay City on December 11th at 7:00 p.m.  Project Blue Light is a way to remember the law enforcement officers who have made the supreme sacrifice, and the officers still working day in and day out to help keep our streets and homes safe.

  3. Poinsettias – Our Career Center Agriscience Program is selling poinsettias for the holiday season. If you are interested in ordering your holiday poinsettias, please contact the Agriscience Program at ext. 3442.

  4. Candle Sale If you are still interested in purchasing some candles from the Living and Learning Center – Arenac Campus, please contact Gloria Anderson at 846-9510 or e-mail andersong@baisd.net. Scents include: pine needles, spiced cranberry, pear berry, and waterfall mist. Candles are $8.00 each and if you wish to pay by check, please make it out to: BAISD. Proceeds go to fund a class trip and 10% of the profit goes to Christmas for kids!!!

  5. GroupWise Server Shut Down – On Saturday, December 9, 2006, Bay-Arenac ISD’s current GroupWise e-mail server will be replaced with a new one. We’ve had some concerns about the performance of the current server and want to replace it before it causes major problems with the delivery of GroupWise to our employees. Please note that our work to place a new server in operation will begin at 8:00 a.m. on December 9. We expect that the work will conclude by 4:00 p.m. that same day. During that time frame, you will not be able to access your e-mail to send or receive messages. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

  6. Board Meeting – Our next Board Meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at 4:00 pm. It will be held at the Educational Service Center. Staff members are always welcome.

  7. Birthday Wishes – 12/05 Susan Welter; 12/06 Anita Richards; 12/08 Gloria Anderson; 12/09 Pamela Herber and Ruth Peil. Best wishes everyone!
