Mike's Monday Memo

12/18/2006

Here’s what’s up for the week of December 18, 2006:

  1. Holiday Wishes – On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to wish each of you a very joyful holiday season. May all your wishes come true and each of your stockings be filled with many wonderful surprises.   I would also ask that you say a prayer for the men and women who are serving our country. This is a tough time for them and their families.

  2. 2007 – Do you believe that it is going to be seven years since we talked about Y2K? Time flies when we are having fun! Where has the time gone?

  3. Office Closing Reminder – The Educational Service Center will be closed on the following dates: December 25, 26 and January 1, 2.

  4. Just a Reminder – Santa will be out and about this week!

  5. Good News – All staff who is working December 27, 28, and 29, may wear jeans!

  6. Mike’s Monday Memo – There will not be a Mike’s Monday Memo next week due to the holiday.

  7. Thank you – Over the past few months, the Educational Service Center staff have been collecting money to purchase Christmas gifts for some Bay-Arenac Community High School families. I am happy to inform everyone that because of your generosity, we have collected a total of $402.00! Your donations are greatly appreciated by us and especially the families. Thank you!

  8. Yarn Donations – Coleen and Arlene at the Bay County Juvenile Home are asking for staff to donate any yarn that you have no use for. Odd colors and remnants are OK. Students worked diligently to knit more than 50 hats that were then donated to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. This is an ongoing project and donations at any time of the year are welcome. Call Coleen or Arlene at 892-4519 or 684-1744 to arrange for donations. Thank you!

  9. Candle Sale Thank you to all who supported our candle sale! The LLC-Arenac Campus students were able to use $115 of the profits and $102 of extra donations to shop for Christmas gifts for kids. Our students shopped for kids ages 13-17, as they are often difficult to buy for and sometimes forgotten when people make a gift donation. It was great to see our students making choices for others and enjoying the spirit of giving. They then treated themselves to lunch at the Blooming Chef’s Restaurant with some of their profit money. This was a day they will not forget as they were truly in the holiday spirit, enjoyed a great lunch, and were able to give. We do have candles left! They make great gifts and we will get them to you via Gloria or Louann. We have waterfall mist and pear berry left. Both are great scents for the holidays and year round. If you wish to purchase any, please call or e-mail Gloria at 989-846-9510 or andersong@baisd.net. Again, thank you for your support!

  10. Next Board Meeting – Our next Regular Board Meeting will be today, December 18, 2006 at 4:00 pm. You are all invited to attend.

  11. Birthday Wishes – Have a happy birthday everyone!
