  1. Regular Board Meeting - The January Regular Board meeting will be held on Monday, January 22. As always, all staff is welcome to attend. The meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. in the Essexville-Hampton room at the EducationalServiceCenter.

  2. Martin Luther King Day – As you know, there was no mail service yesterday, in recognition of the great American Dr. Martin Luther King.

  3. School Board Recognition Month - This month has been identified as School Board Recognition month. If you have the opportunity to talk to one of our Board members, please thank them for all their efforts. Our Board of Education is made up of wonderful people who care so much about our students and staff.

  4. State Aid Budget Update - The State of Michigan is facing a projected   budget deficit in next year’s general fund in the amount of $1 Billion. On Thursday, January 18th the power that be will look at fiscal year 2006 and identify just how short the State Aid budget is and how it will effect our budgets. I'll keep you posted as more information unfolds.

  5. Senator Jim Barcia - Our Senator has just been appointed to the most powerful committee in the Michigan Senate. That committee is the Appropriations. This committee makes decisions that will decide what services the state government will fund for the year. Senator Barcia has always been a friend to education. This is good news for Bay-Arenac ISD and the students we serve.

  6. Inside Story - If you have an interesting story or event that you would like to share with our entire staff, please write it up and forward it to my office. If you also have pictures, that always adds a nice touch. Hey, share the good news!
