Mike's Monday Memo 01/22/2007 Here’s what’s up for the week of January 22, 2007:
-
Regular Board Meeting – The Regular Board meeting will be held this evening. As always, staff is welcome to attend. The meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. in the Essexville-Hampton Room at the EducationalServiceCenter.
-
Reminder – As per Board Policy, the use of district equipment to make unauthorized copies (CDs/etc.) of district owned, privately owned, or illegally obtained computer software, (music/etc.) is prohibited. I would ask that staff please notify your students.
-
ReminderSchool Board Recognition Month – This month has been identified as School Board Recognition month. If you have the opportunity to talk to one of our Board members, please thank them for all their hard work. They care so much about our students and staff.
-
State-Aid Budget Update – The State of Michigan is facing a projected budget deficit in next year’s general fund in the amount of more than $1 Billion. This will also affect our local districts and their budgets. Our locals could see a $200.00 or more reduction yet this year in state aid. I'll keep you posted as more information unfolds.
-
Winter has Arrived – Just a reminder as the temperature drops outside, it too is colder in our buildings. Please remember that our classrooms and offices will be kept at a maximum temperature of 68 degrees. I encourage our staff to dress appropriately for the cold winter. Thanks for your cooperation.
-
Congratulations to Linda Niedzwiecki – Linda was just named Tri-County “Chef of the Year.” Linda is a Support Staff Specialist in our Commercial Foods program at the Career Center. Hats off to Linda for this much deserved honor.
-
Did You Know? – Bay-Arenac ISD provides direct services to seven Public Schools, two Charter Schools, and twenty two Non-Public Schools? That is a lot of children. It’s a great feeling to know that we are helping shape America’s future.
-
Check it out – If you haven’t looked at the ISD website in the past few months, I would encourage you to do so. Spend some time looking at our Career Center and Special Education site as well. I think you will be impressed. Don’t forget to look at the links as well. Thanks to everyone who have worked on the updates.

Words to live by this week:
You can make more friends in a month by being interested in them than in ten years by trying to get them interested in you.
