Mike's Monday Memo

02/19/2007
Here’s what’s up for the week of February 19, 2007:
  1. Next Regular Board Meeting - The next regular Board meeting is tonight at 4:00 p.m. Staff is always welcome.

  2. President’s Day - I want to wish each of you a great President’s Day! I don’t think we have US Mail today.

  3. State Board Member Visit – On Wednesday, February 21st, the State School Board member, Elizabeth Bauer will be here meeting with Marty Doring and Linda Engelhardt. Ms. Bauer will be at our Career Center in the morning.

  4. Allied Health Wing - Mr. Rivard and his staff are very close to the point where they will start sending out RFPs for the building project. This is a very exciting time for our ISD.

  5. Beach Wellness – Please view the attachment regarding the beach wellness program.

  6. Records Retention – Please view the attachment regarding “what makes an email a record.”

  7. State Superintendent - On Thursday, March 1st our State Superintendent will be visiting our ISD and local schools. Mike Flanagan will be here most of the day, so don’t be surprised if he stops by your classroom.

  8. State Budget - Last week, I spent two days meeting with our state leaders to talk about the state budget and how it might impact our local school budget. The message we heard was we have a huge hole in the state budget in the tune of $800 million. We (as a state) can’t cut our way out of this, so we have to look at some type of revenue enhancement. In the near future, I will be asking our staff to contact our leaders in Lansing to consider options to solve our budget problem. More information to come.

  9. Birthday Wishes – Happy Birthday!
