Mike's Monday Memo

02/26/2007

Here’s what’s up for the week of February 26, 2007:
  1. Last few days of February - We can only hope that the bad weather is behind us. Two long months done and one yet to go. Just 23 days until the first day of spring.

  2. Special Olympics – Area 9 Special Olympics is hosting a Regional Basketball tournament on Saturday, March 3rd with over 20 teams from the State. The tournament will be held at Handy Intermediate School. Many of our students (Special Education) participate in this tournament either playing or watching. We would like to invite everyone to come and see what Special Olympics basketball is all about! Please view the attachment for more details.

  3. Call for Yarn Donations - Coleen and Arlene, in the lockdown program at the Bay County Juvenile Home are still working with their students on knitting hats, gloves, and scarves for the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. Hats will be given to needy adults and children in the community. If you would like to donate call Coleen or Arlene at 892-4519 or 684-1744. Remnants or odd colors are welcome. PLEASE HELP.

  4. Upcoming Legislative Breakfast - Our next scheduled Legislative Breakfast will be on Friday, March 2, 2007. This is always a great time to have our local Board members and Superintendents meet and talk to our representatives face-to-face about current issues happening in Lansing. If you have any special comments or information you would like me to share with our Legislators, just give Brenda or me a call.

  5. State Superintendent Visit - On Thursday, March 1st Michael Flanagan our State Superintendent of Public Instruction will be visiting our ISD. Mike Flanagan will be at our Career Center in the morning and visiting LLC-Bay in the afternoon as well as Bay City Public Schools.

  6. CareerCenter Health and Science Occupational Wing - Within the next few weeks we should have the final plan developed and ready to send out for bids. I would like to thank all of our staff who helped and assisted in putting the plans and programs in place. We will keep you updated as progress continues.

  7. Birthday Wishes – 2/26 Daniel Wood; 2/27 Joseph Chritz; 2/28 Cathy LaLonde; 3/01 Tammy Mortensen; 3/03 Jennifer Doran. Happy Birthday to everyone!

Words to live by this week:

Something to think about: Ask yourself if you would feel comfortable giving your two best friends a key to your house. If not, look for some new best friends.
