Proud Fathers/Proud Parents
Proud Fathers/Proud Parents (PFPP) was created to strengthen families and to improve positive outcomes for children. Services are designed to promote individual and shared parental responsibility, strengthen family relationships, and improve co-parenting skills among couples in Michigan. Services include:
- 14 Week Proud Fathers classes, which include the complete Nurturing Fathers curriculum (website: http://www.nurturingfathers.com). Eligible candidates are adolescent and adult fathers, step fathers or other male caretakers of children who are TANF eligible. Class size will be limited to 12-16 participants.
- 10 Week Proud Parents classes that focus on strengthening the couple relationship through shared exploration of parenting attitudes and skills. Eligible candidates may be parents (custodial or non-custodial) or even expecting parents of children who are TANF eligible. Class size will be limited to 6-8 couples.
- Well balanced, nutritious meals will be provided to the participants and their children. The family will eat together before the classes each week.
- The children will then be supervised by Youth Supervisors who will care for the children while the parents attend class in another room.
- Transportation will be available for participants who request it.
