Commonly Used Terms

  • ASD: Academic Skill Development
  • GED: General Education Development Credential
  • HSC: High School Completion
  • CTE: Career Technical Education
  • TBD: To Be Determined
  • E2020TM: The name of the computer software used in the GED Preparation and High School Diploma classes
  • Off-Site Classes: Locations other than the Career Center where students may take classes. This includes the Michigan Works! offices in Bay City and Standish.
  • Tuition: The amount of money charged for a class
  • CASAS eTest: The name of the assessment form that the participants and pupils take to assess their skills and place them in the appropriate classes
  • Orientation: The mandatory meeting for participants before they begin their classes. (Orientation will take place the first night of classes for career technical students.)
  • Daytime Career Technical: These are classes that are offered to area juniors and seniors in high school. As space allows pupils may be able to enroll. The classes run 5 days a week from either 7:55 - 10:35 a.m. OR 12:00 - 2:40 p.m.
