Small Engine Repair

Students will have the opportunity to disassemble, measure and reassemble several different types of engines while working as a team. Students will work on lawn and garden equipment, motorcycles, mini-bikes, chainsaws and go-carts. Shop safety will include the use of power tools, hand tools and electrical safety. Electrical skills such as engine systems, including starting, charging, ignition, lubrication and cooling system theory and service are included in the curriculum. Students will assist in the operation of an in-class repair shop. They also have the opportunity for mentorships, internships, full and part time jobs. Customer service skills including sales are taught. Students receive a certificate for successful completion of the computerized Part Smart Program. Michigan Motorcycle Repair Certification is offered.
