BAISD Career Center Hybrid Model 20-21
Recognizing how important face-to-face/hands-on instruction is at the Career Center and the need to help control the spread of Covid-19 to keep staff and students safe, the BAISD Career Center has adopted a hybrid scheduling and instruction model to start the 2020-21 school year. This model will stay in place through September, and will be reevaluated at the end of the month.
The hybrid model provides for face-to-face instruction two days a week and remote learning three days a week. This will allow for classes to provide in-person instruction with classes at around 50% capacity (percentage varies by class). Students from each district have been grouped as follows*:
Group A** First day of school is Thursday, September 3rd
Attends and learns in-person at the Career Center on Monday and Thursday
Learns remotely from home on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday:
Bay City Academy
Bay City Schools
Carrollton Public Schools
Freeland Community School District
Pinconning Area Schools
Group B** First day of school is Tuesday, September 1st
Attends and learns in person at the Career Center on Tuesday and Friday
Learns remotely from home on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday:
All Saints Central
Bangor Township Schools
Bay-Arenac Community High School
Birch Run Area Schools
Essexville Hampton Public Schools
Frankenmuth School District
Hale Area Schools
Meridian Public Schools
Standish-Sterling Community School District
Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools
*Students will only be allowed to attend the Career Center on their assigned days. This model reflects our best attempt at “cohorting” of students, as the health department recommends.
No work is required until the student’s first day of school as listed above.
**Although Group B is a much longer list, please know that the number of students enrolled from each sending school varies in size. Also, some schools only attend in the A.M. or the P.M. If enrollment changes during the drop and add period change the balance significantly, these groupings may change to get as close to 50% capacity as possible
We provide quality training in a safe and nurturing environment, working cooperatively with area schools and communities to meet the changing needs of our society.
It is the policy of the Bay-Arenac ISD Career Center that no discriminatory practices because of gender, race, religion, color, age, national origin, disability, height, weight , or any other status protected by federal, state or local law, be allowed in providing instructional opportunities, job placement assistance, employment practices, and policies governing student conduct and attendance. In addition, arrangements can be made to ensure that the lack of English language proficiency is not a barrier to admission or participation.
