In partnership with AIS training centers Career Center students will learn all aspects of the heavy equipment that construction, trucking, agricultural and material handling industries rely on. Understand the engine, hydraulic, power train and electrical systems that make this equipment operate effectively. Use the tools and repair equipment working alongside professionals as you learn to service, repair and rebuild vehicle components.

Special Class Features

  • Work on-site with front loaders, excavators, and other heavy equipment
  • Performance maintenance on diesel equipment
  • Learn the major components of heavy equipment (engine, transmissions, etc)
  • Learn on a virtual reality equipment simulator

Course Content

  • Orientation to the heavy equipment repair profession 
  • Safety precautions in heavy equipment repair and operation
  • Basic tool identification and shop principles, procedures and maintenance  
  • Operate floor jack and position safety stands to allow for safe vehicle servicing
  • Diesel engine operation, troubleshooting, disassembly and assembly 
  • Basic electrical and electronics in heavy equipment machinery 
  • Heavy equipment powertrain identification and operation 
  • Heavy equipment hydraulic principles, operation and repair
